The $225.00 fee includes 12 hours of instruction, one private lesson, rehearsal time, performance rental space, payment for accompanist and musicians.

Course Description:

Each student will focus on Jazz solo singing that will include the study of chords, scales, and intervals in jazz. We will learn pivot tones in relation to jazz scatting. The songs that we will be focusing on are the 12 bar blues and jazz standards.

Students will explore thinking in melodic and harmonic directed lines. We will focus on arpeggios in jazz, major and minor intervals, the blues scale, chord quality and seventh chords. Transposing music for the band stand and all the musical language needed to be a musician, not "just a singer" will be addressed. Vocal health and breathing strength exercises will also be an important part of this workshop.

Individually, students will learn new songs and expand their personal repertoire by performing and listening to others. Students will also practice with a jazz accompanist at each class meeting and once with a full rhythm section before their final performance (date & time TBA) where they will perform 2-3songs. ________________________________________________________________________
