Jazz Period 1 receives first place with straight Superiors
and wins highest honor;

1st place out of ALL performing choirs. (highest ranking score)
Jazz Period 1 received "Choir of the Festival Award."

Students then get to meet with Groove 66 ( vibrations) and take pictures!

The 16th Los Angeles Master Chorale High School Festival

Concert Choir performs in the Los Angeles Walt Disney Hall, conducted by the Los Angeles Choral Director, Dr. Grant Gershon

Students enjoy singing "Sanctus" and realizing that Ariel Quintana, the composer of this piece, is sitting in the audience. What an extremely moving moment!

April 2005

Students competed at Fullerton Jazz Festival! Vocal Jazz Period 2 placed fourth overall in the intermediate catagory, and Vocal Jazz Period 1 placed fifth. This is their first time in the intermediate catagory and out of seventeen choirs, this is an extremely exciting achievement!

March 2005

118 VHS Choir Members and Chaperones go to the Heritage Festival in Hawaii! Mixed, Concert, Jazz Per. 1, Jazz Period 2, and Women's Ensemble all compete in a festival representing 17 schools. Women's Choir received third place, Advanced Concert Choir received Gold Superior third place, Mixed receive Silver! Vocal Jazz Period 1 received Second Place Gold Superior, and Vocal Jazz Period 2 received First Place Gold Superior!

The Vocal Jazz Choirs also received the adjudicator's award as the top choir at the festival!

Advanced Concert Choir was also invited to sing in the prestigious Gold Festival in New York City!

This trip was also educational as students visited Pearl Harbor and got a tour of the U.S.S. Missourri, the U.S.S. Arizona, and sang at Pearl Harbor. Students also visited Haunama Bay, and had many days of sun and fun!

Cal Poly Choir Festival San Luis Obispo

Concert Choir performs in the ACDA annual concert at The San Luis Obispo Performing Arts Center. Students also get a guest lecture and clinic workshop from Cal Poly Director of Choirs, Dr. Merideth Brammeier.

Choir throws its second school swing dance!

Students are given a rare chance to perform and sing solos with a live Jazz Combo (6 piece band).

VHS Choirs hold first ever VHS Boutique at Valencia High School. on November 20th, 2004. Over 45 vendors will be represented.

Concert Choir will sing again this year under the direction of Dr. Grant Gershon at the Los Angeles Master Chorale Choir Festival.

September 2004

Concert Choir audition and is accepted to perform in the Candlelight Carol Ceremony at Disneyland! Each student will receive 2 free tickets to Disneyland and a day at the park.

Valencia High School Choirs is asked to sing with the Santa Clarita Master Chorale in the C.O.C. Performing Arts Center

All Choirs are currently fundraising for their next tour to Hawaii!

Santa Clarita City Chamber of Commerce gives a grant to Valencia High Music Program in the amount of $1000 to begin afterschool all-student Jazz Combo. The Jazz Combo will be lead by artist in residence, Dave Kelly.

95 Choir members from Mixed, Concert, Jazz, and Women's Ensemble perform at the Heritage Festival in San Diego. Mixed, Concert, and Jazz all place with Superior Gold and are invited to the prestigious festival of Gold in New York City and Chicago.
